VW Tiguan
VW Tiguan
Is not annoying if you have been waiting patiently in a bar for the age to be served and someone in the wind and get served immediately. In the run most of my life there are always opportunists waiting a few corners to steal the limelight from all of us.
With this thought in mind it seems to be able to time their launch Volkswagen compact 4×4 for perfection, especially because they have sat back for a few years and wait to see what the competition was doing and then just strolled to the Tiguan.
This is a masterstroke on the part of VW as they are able to assess all the shortcomings of other vehicles in this class and introduce new technologies far ahead of anything on the market. Some argue that the Tiguan a little late arriving at the party but I believe that by buying time VW has been able to offer vehicles that only light years ahead of its competitors.
Sure there are successful offerings from other manufacturers in the meantime, not least with his Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander with a company that has given birth to the Citroen C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007 and the Nissan Qashqai. However, it is the Land Rover Freelander that the Tiguan has an eye on.
Although the Tiguan is not the most flamboyant off-roaders, is almost certainly one of the best conceived.
To start comes packed with gizmos that left the driver of an old Land Rover discovery as I gaped in amazement. This includes self-parking system, electronic rear parking camera, panoramic sunroof and sat nav and stereo system that can store 30 gigabytes worth of your favorite songs or alternate rhymes garage when the children are on board.
More practical is the fact that the Tiguan can be 2 ½ ton crane, more than other cars in its class, this is accompanied by pop-out, neat optional tow hook. Other features include steering system that prevents the steering wheel of your big break during the serious off-roading, a sat nav system that can work out where you even if you’re off the road and the front passenger seat backrest folds forward for extra long loads.
It has a front-end design that makes it possible to mount the steep banks without scraping the bumper, and fitted with a sophisticated battery of electronic aids off-road. This includes hill-descent control, pioneered by Land Rover, which brakes the car to crawling speed on steep slippery slopes, and hill-hold control system that operates in conjunction with electronic hand brake so you do not accidentally play back from the cliff.
Brain car electronics also enable a limited slip differential to eliminate wheel spin, brake according to the surface of loose change and reduce the sensitivity of the gas pedal and there is even a compass if the sat nav does not pack.
All Tiguans equipped with permanent four-wheel drive 4MOTION known as, in VW. It divides power equally between all four wheels, ensuring maximum traction. After the move it will send 90% of the energy the engine to the front wheels if conditions are good, in order to improve fuel economy.
Tiguan comes with a 2-liter direct injection diesel turbo 140bhp which is much quieter than diesel clattery old-school, especially at highway cruising speeds.
This attitude is perfectly Tiguan road which is equipped with a comfortable cabin and well appointed, which is also very well laid out. Sat nav screen which is conveniently located high, instruments and controls are easy to read and electronic hand brake gives a lot of storage space between the front seats.
Also impressive given this is a family car, is that the rear seats are just as accommodating, and when slid into position at the rear legroom is still providing generous. Seats are divided too easily folded 60:40. Boot well designed and quite large, even with the rear seats pushed fully back.
Practical design combined with innovative technologies is what VW’s all about today and when you factor in the standard finish is a cut above you can see why people are prepared to spend a little extra on a Volkswagen
